Music Video - Evaluation

In my music video the key points that I felt stood out were the mood and feel that was created by the song and the images, the song itself is quite depressive and I felt that having a video shot in the dark and was slow passed to match the song would work quite well. The song has narrative based lyrics so I felt it best to try and create the imagery from the lyrics into a sort of short story, these were my own ideas behind the lyrics and what I believe they meant. Another bit that worked well was the editing part of the video, I myself have never done very much extensive editing using a Mac so I knew this task was going to be a learning curve, but what came out as an end result I was pretty pleased with. My editing wasn’t going to be crazy with loads of quick cut here and there due to the nature of the song, so that was helpful in making the video. The track editing seemed to go quite well too.
As ever the budget is the main problem I have with making “professional” looking videos as the school isn’t equipped with loads of flood lights and fancy equipment so I basically need to improvise, which can be quite tricky sometimes and it usually doesn’t have the same effect that I was aiming for. The one thing I felt let my film down was the cameras quality at picking up extreme darkness, it kind of looked like it was made on a camera phone, which everyone knows lacks in quality. I did notice a few skips In the track where I had edited, but with the Mac sound editing I can only do so much. I had a hard time trying to sync the lyrics and the images up as the song has huge gaps with no lyrics and just instruments making it extremely hard to sync, but I did do my best.
From this task I have learned a bit more in Mac video editing, I have learned that shooting requires a decent budget and equipment, never leave editing and filming to the last minute and it will affect your videos appearance
