Music Video - Evaluation

In my music video the key points that I felt stood out were the mood and feel that was created by the song and the images, the song itself is quite depressive and I felt that having a video shot in the dark and was slow passed to match the song would work quite well. The song has narrative based lyrics so I felt it best to try and create the imagery from the lyrics into a sort of short story, these were my own ideas behind the lyrics and what I believe they meant. Another bit that worked well was the editing part of the video, I myself have never done very much extensive editing using a Mac so I knew this task was going to be a learning curve, but what came out as an end result I was pretty pleased with. My editing wasn’t going to be crazy with loads of quick cut here and there due to the nature of the song, so that was helpful in making the video. The track editing seemed to go quite well too.
As ever the budget is the main problem I have with making “professional” looking videos as the school isn’t equipped with loads of flood lights and fancy equipment so I basically need to improvise, which can be quite tricky sometimes and it usually doesn’t have the same effect that I was aiming for. The one thing I felt let my film down was the cameras quality at picking up extreme darkness, it kind of looked like it was made on a camera phone, which everyone knows lacks in quality. I did notice a few skips In the track where I had edited, but with the Mac sound editing I can only do so much. I had a hard time trying to sync the lyrics and the images up as the song has huge gaps with no lyrics and just instruments making it extremely hard to sync, but I did do my best.
From this task I have learned a bit more in Mac video editing, I have learned that shooting requires a decent budget and equipment, never leave editing and filming to the last minute and it will affect your videos appearance

Music Video - Treatment

Begins with a black screen, the bands logo fades in then fades out and the song title comes on it then fades out, the next shot is at a cemetery. The camera tracks in to where we can see a figure standing beside a grave stone, as the camera tracks in more we can see what is written on the grave. the figure turns around to the camera as if he has heard something behind him, the camera starts to zoom into his face so we can see his emotion and expression. The camera contuines to zoom in to one of his eyes and the shot dissolves into a dark room where the same person is catching flies in a jar so he can see them fly about trapped inside, when he gets bored he smashes the jar on the floor, picks up a baseball bat and contuines to go outside, once outside he begins to smash windows for no real reason just meaningless violence. Theses to shots are to show how his violence increases. he goes back inside and sits down on a old sofa in a old messy room. Theres a flashback to the same room but the atomshpere is warm and nice and the boy is sitting in the same place but appears happy, the flashback ends and goes back to the present. He picks up pictures covered in dust wipes them away to see him and a blurred figure in the image, he picks up another and again there is a figure blurred, he then contines to smash those aswell. The screen goes black for a moment and a clock comes into view it stops at a certain time and the video and song end

Music Video - Beginning

The song i have chosen is by a band called "katatonia" they are a swedish doom/rock band. The song is called "brave" and appears on the early album titled "Brave Murder Day". The track is over 10 minutes long and seeing my video is to last no longer than 3 minutes i will need to cut it down.
Lyrics:

If you didn't know
All the moments
When I lose myself
I would tell the world
I'm catching flies by now
Speaking to someone
Breaking the windows
This house is dead

The sound of falling
When the pictures are moving
Between the memories

The sound of falling
When the pictures are moving
Dead in time
